I am Shaquwanna Abney. Mother, Entreprenuer, and Mentor. I have been a licensed Cosmetologist for over thirteen years, and the owner of Zimora's Hair Boutique for five years. Within those five years, I have been able to mentor several young and adult women in the Cosmetology industry to start their own businesses. I also wrote the self-help book Be Your Own Boss: How To Start A Hair Business.
I am a woman that experienced a lot of trauma throughout my lifetime, however a living testimony of God's grace and mercy. God has proven to me that my current situation is not where I will be always. I grew up in one of the toughest neighborhoods in Newark, NJ. Not only was it tough in the city, it was always tough in my household. I discuss my life in the Memoir Who Would've Known.
When I published my Memoir, it birthed a new assignment. The M.A.S.K OFF Non-Profit Organization. I know without a doubt that my passion and desire is to assist young and adult women to live life to their fullest potential in personal and business aspects.
Our trauma will not define the life that we desire to have!
I was a young mom living paycheck to paycheck, on public assistance, hurt, depressed, and not understanding why nothing I tried would yield the results that I wanted for my life. Today, I am a thriving Mother of two beautiful children, a successful Entrepreneur, Author, Director, and Founder of M.A.S.K OFF Inc. 501c 3 Non-Profit Organization, who's growing into her fullest potential daily.
M.A.S.K OFF
This organization was created for young and adult women to be able to flourish and thrive in these four areas:
- Mindset - We know that all things start in the MIND! Whether good or bad, it all began with a thought. We are going to work on how to shift our mindset to be able to obtain what it is we want or to better navigate what we have. This can be done through one-on-one, group sessions, or therapy and life coach referrals.
- Ability - Here, we will properly assess the level of ability within the skills that you already have and your desire to grow.
- Skills - In this area, we will work on multiple areas of Identifying or Obtaining a new skill.
- Knowledge - In this area, we will offer focus on educational resources, marketing, finance, and product knowledge pertaining to your needs.
